Creating a Rakuten account and becoming a publisher

Rakuten is a well-known electronic commerce and online retailing company with more than 25 years of experience working in the field and establishing themselves as one of the world’s biggest brands in the digital marketplace. First off, you must enter the Rakuten Advertising website, contrary to some of the other affiliate marketing networks, Rakuten uses a specific domain for their would-be partners to join them, as opposed to using the main website. 

Once you enter the website you must click the “Become a publisher” button on the top right corner.

After clicking the button, you will be redirected to the publisher registration page, on the first part of the page you will be asked to submit your company information. Such as the country in which your company is based on, the legal entity type, business name, tax form and address.

In the middle of the publisher registration page, you will find your Rakuten account’s information form and contacts as well as your primary website’s information form. In this section you will choose the email with which you want your Rakuten account to be connected along with the password and security question. As for the primary website info you must fill in your website’s name, the URL, your primary business model, the number of visitors and page views your website gets, the category of your website’s content, the gender and age gaps that you target and a short description of what your website is about.

On the last part of the publisher page, you can choose the payment threshold you desire, you must submit a threshold of over 50 EUR/GBP/USD otherwise Rakuten will reserve the right to withhold payments. Here you can pick the language in which you want to communicate with, as well as the language you will see in the dashboard. If you would like you can receive notification of new promotions by Rakuten and get the monthly newsletter sent to you by email, in order to do that you must check the respective boxes. Finally you have to read and accept the Membership Agreement, the Affiliate Network and Downloadable Software Application policies and confirm that you are over the age of 18. You can now click the “sign me up!” button on the bottom of the publisher page.

After clicking the button will should receive a message confirming that you now have created a Rakuten publisher account.

You will also receive an email asking you to verify your login email.

After you have clicked the verify login email link you will be redirected to the login page, you can now log in to your new Rakuten account.

Once logged in you will enter the Rakuten dashboard and will be greeted by the welcome message where you can find helpful information to start your program, like picking the payment methods, the programs you want to join and getting links, banners and other additional content to display on your website.
